My name is David Batten, and my software development roots date back to the mid 80’s when I was programming in BASIC and Pascal on Apple IIe’s and the first-generation Mac’s. Software development wasn’t my initial career choice, as I took a detour through the late 80’s and 90’s to study architecture and drafting, while making a living as a car/home audio geek. I also spent a couple years as an equipment operator, putting in seat-time on loaders, dozers, excavators, and blades.

I’ve split my life between California, where I was born, and Utah, where I currently reside. My time in California was in areas of heavy motocross/supercross activity, and I am a huge fan of the sport(s). Due to injuries sustained in a riding accident in 1999, I no longer ride, but remain a dedicated fan.

I have 2 wonderful children and am lucky to have my best friend as my wife.

I am now a software and build engineer, and I can’t begin to express how lucky I am to be able to work in this field. It’s pretty amazing to be able to learn something new each day I go to work, with no end of new information in sight. It’s a wonderful occupation to have.

I also spend my spare time presenting and teaching technology at local community events.
